THE DESIGNER - Betty Tran

'Designing is part of the expression of who I am as a woman, with all the elements and emotions - it is as much a matter of my heart as it is a connection of my body and soul. The Betty Tran label was born for this reason ' - BETTY TRAN

Inspired by strength, passion and love, embodied in the modern woman, Betty Tran seeks to create unforgettable experiences, immersing the Betty Tran woman into a world of inspiration, empowerment and fearlessness.

Having commenced in 2012, Betty Tran’s designs have been described as a masterful example of combining modernity, strength and luxurious embellishment into breathtaking couture, day and evening wear.

The label is supported by a wide variety of stars and influencers, including Spice Girl star turned X-Factor Judge Mel B, Victoria's Secret super model Jessica Hart, international model Nicole Trunfio, Australian Miss Universe Jasinta Campbell, and tennis champions and entrepreneurs Serena and Venus Williams, among many others.

THE STYLIST - Nathan Gardiner

Early in 2012, I was literally walking the streets of Perth looking for designers to talk into collaborating with me. I'd always supported local designers & retailers from down south but wanted to occasionally bring in a big name or something the south west hadn't seen, it had worked before with Megan Salmon.  So there I was on the pavement - ready with only a small stack of introduction letters and hope.

I walked into Betty Tran .....

Almost 4 yrs later I'm the Head Stylist & Creative at Betty Tran - it all started on that day.

So now I'm more Perth-based - but apart from a jump start and introduction to fashion when I was living in the UK my career started and was based in the South West for years - and back then it was all about training the enormous pool of model talent roaming around the South West.

When it came to casting Parmelia Hilton's Fashion Friday I knew I'd reach for home - I always will.

From a brand perspective - these girls are the perfect personification of the young 'Betty Tran Woman' - they are all poised, striking individuals - confident, feminine and refined.  They are all either studying or building careers - another trait of the professional woman Betty designs so eloquently for.

THE MODELS

Indiya Webb

I am a local of Margaret River and currently working full time in my gap year as I am heading to university next year.

I first started modelling for local stores at the age of 15 and loved it, and a few years later was given the opportunity to model for the South West Fashion Festival.

This is where I was first involved with Betty Tran and her beautifully designed gowns. Involved in the work was Nathan, a Bunbury based stylist, who had impressed me with his calm and passionate nature. I recently modelled an editorial for SW Life + Style magazine run by Jo Bevis. I loved every moment of these experiences and I aspire to collaborate with them again. I am so exhilarated to have worked with such professional West Australian fashion icons who have helped my journey as a model so far.

Elle Ryan

Born and raised in Bunbury, I was just a regular local girl who wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with myself post graduation. By 20 y/o I found myself becoming increasingly restless but luckily for me, being best of friends with some of Bunbury's creatives (Nathan and Cody) an opportunity arose for me to take part in SW Life + Style, as a model. Fast forward almost 2 years and I've done another two shoots with Jo, the SW Fashion Festival, multiple collection launches, luncheons, newspaper articles and catwalk shows for Betty Tran, along with a lot of local work within Bunbury. Having people like Nathan, Cody and Jo teach and guide me this exciting yet daunting transition has been nothing but blessing! I count myself extremely lucky to have these people around me, I really don't know where I'd be without them.

Jacey Brown

I moved to Bunbury from Busselton when I was 18, not long after getting a job at a local bar then entering & winning my first modelling competition, I met Nathan Gardiner. Over the 7+ years we’ve known each other Nath has always been there to support me on my modelling journey and is always happy to provide opportunities for me to push my own boundaries. Now with both us living in Perth and Nathan working as the Stylist for Betty Tran I’ve been waiting for my opening to get on board and prove myself with the iconic designer. The event went exceptionally well and it was also pleasure shooting with Jo Bevis after the show. Hopefully it won’t be the last time I spend the day wearing Betty Tran’s stunning gowns and working with this wonderful team.

Alison Andrade

Working as a fashion retail manager in my hometown of Perth. My interest in modelling started in Bunbury, where I moved in my early teens did the school thing, and after went on to work as a barista and bartender. The opportunity arose to collaborate with notable creatives of the South West. Hairdresser and friend Cody Trimboli invited me to model in an editorial for SW Life +STYLE where I had the pleasure of meeting and working with the online magazine's founder and photographer Jo Bevis, and renowned stylist Nathan Gardiner. In the short time I have known him, Nathan has presented his visions for the industry in a way that has inspired myself and many others. Recently I was fortunate to take part in a show directed by Nathan at the Parmelia Hilton, wearing stunning gowns by Betty Tran and doing a little shooting afterward with Jo.  I look forward to working with the passionate creatives again.

Carli Panten

I started modelling when I was about 15 in Bunbury and was able to do some really good photoshoots and catwalks such as the South West Fashion festival. In 2014 I did the Miss Universe competition where I got into the top 24 for WA which was an amazing experience. Although I don't do modelling very often anymore I haven't lost the passion for it and it was resparked when I recently did a showcase for Betty Tran!
